Ware his history of sack success against Eagles that will be needed Sunday

The last time the Dallas Cowboys played in Philadelphia, linebacker DeMarcus Ware collected four sacks. Ware has 15.5 career sacks against the Eagles, his most against any opponent. Included are 6.5 sacks against Eagles’ quarterback Michael Vick, who has been dropped 27 times this season.

For the Cowboys (3-5) to prevail Sunday in a must-win game, coach Jason Garrett said Ware needs to have a productive day against the Eagles (3-5).

“We need him every week. He’s a great football player,” Garrett said. “He’s one of the best players in the NFL, certainly one of the great pressure players of his generation.

“He impacts the game in so many ways. They give him so much attention, it helps other guys rush the passer. They have to do different things schematically. He’s also an excellent run defender. Even when he’s not getting sacks, he’s impacting the game. We certainly love sacks. Minus (yardage) plays are hard to overcome. But he’ll impact the game, one way or another.”

If he does not impact it enough, the Cowboys’ realistic playoff hopes will disappear long before Thanksgiving.
