For the Cowboys (3-5) to prevail Sunday in a must-win game, coach Jason Garrett said Ware needs to have a productive day against the Eagles (3-5).
“We need him every week. He’s a great football player,” Garrett said. “He’s one of the best players in the NFL, certainly one of the great pressure players of his generation.
“He impacts the game in so many ways. They give him so much attention, it helps other guys rush the passer. They have to do different things schematically. He’s also an excellent run defender. Even when he’s not getting sacks, he’s impacting the game. We certainly love sacks. Minus (yardage) plays are hard to overcome. But he’ll impact the game, one way or another.”
If he does not impact it enough, the Cowboys’ realistic playoff hopes will disappear long before Thanksgiving.
