Mike Jenkins will get some time as the nickel cornerback in place of the injured Orlando Scandrick for the final five games of the season.
In addition to helping the Cowboys, it will be a chance for the former 2008 first round pick and former 2009 Pro Bowler to show some versatility and showcase his skills for prospective teams in the off season when he becomes a free agent.
Jenkins, who started at right cornerback the previous four seasons before being benched in favor of rookie Morris Claiborne and free agent signee Brandon Carr, has never played in the slot before.
"We made a concerted effort to keep Jenkins because of the kind of player he is and the kind of player he has been for us," coach Jason Garrett said. "He has typically played outside. He has played a little more inside with Orlando out, more than he has in the past. He is a versatile player. He is quick. He is strong. He is fast. e has good feel for covering people. He just needs more experience in there. That adds value for him and helps us a football team."Clarence Hill
