With linebacker DeMarcus Ware banged up, nursing shoulder and elbow injuries, Anthony Spencer will have to step up his game this week. While Ware promises to play, he won't be 100 percent.
"DWare, he’s a great player," Spencer said Wednesday. "He’s going to be out there doing everything that he can. At the same time, he only can do as much as he can. We’ve been dealing with injuries all year long. We’re going to keep on chugging no matter what we’ve got out there."
Ware has only 1.5 sacks in the past five games. Spencer had two sacks against the Bengals three weeks ago as the Cowboys sacked Andy Dalton five times. Spencer had 1.5 against the Steelers two weeks ago as the Cowboys got to Ben Roethlisberger four times. They had no sacks against Drew Brees despite the Saints running 95 plays on Sunday. Spencer didn't even have a pressure against Brees.
“Spence always shows up in the ball game and makes a lot of plays," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Wednesday. "… He’s been playing so well. I hate to compare game to game. He wasn’t quite as productive as he was in previous games, but he’s doing a lot of good things for us.”
