The Giants loss to the Falcons on Sunday was the help the Cowboys needed. They control their playoff destiny -- as do the Redskins and the Giants. Dallas will win the NFC East with victories in their final two games -- vs. the Saints and at the Redskins. However, the Cowboys will not be eliminated with a loss next week. If they lose next week against the Saints, they would need help to get into the playoffs, but they still would be mathematically alive.
Like last season, their final regular-season game will be meaningful.
"We’ve had to win our last, what feels like six games," Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo said. "Honestly, what, we were 3-5 at one point? Is that right? From that point on, it feels like every game you’re playing is for your playoff life. Our team has had to have that attitude, and we’ve taken that approach, and we’ll continue to do that."
The Redskins, who play at Philadelphia and then host Dallas, will win the East with victories in their last two games. The Giants, who play at Baltimore and then host Philadelphia, will clinch at least a playoff berth with victories in their last two games.
You can expect the Cowboys-Redskins game to be flexed to a night game by NBC. Just like last season. The Cowboys just hope the outcome is different. They lost to the Giants 31-14 in Week 17 and then watched as the Giants went on to win the Super Bowl.
