Cowboys sign NT Brian Schaefering to take Josh Brent's roster spot

The Cowboys placed nose tackle Josh Brent on the reserve non-football injury list, replacing him with defensive tackle Brian Schaefering.

Schaefering was out of the league since being released by the Browns on Aug. 31. He has appeared in 37 career games, with 10 starts, and has 72 tackles and two sacks. He has been with the Browns and the Jets. Schaefering played in all 16 games with Cleveland last season.

Dallas also signed three practice squad players to complete their seven-player roster: DE Robert Rose (Ohio State), LB Brashton Satele (Hawaii) and TE Andre Smith (Virginia Tech).
