Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said the team has other players who have had Pro Bowl-type years besides Jason Witten and DeMarcus Ware and should feel good about it.
“Those guys need to feel good about how they played,” Garrett said, asked Thursday at his press conference if he believed more Cowboys should have been voted to the Pro Bowl. “A number of guys on our team need to feel good about how they’ve played, regardless of how the Pro Bowl balloting was.”
Tony Romo and Dez Bryant had cases for the honor. Romo ranks third in the NFL in yards and second in completions. Bryant ranks third in scoring and eighth in catches and yards.
Garrett said he doesn’t worry about placating his players about the Pro Bowl results, particularly Bryant.
“Certainly Dez has had as good a year as any receiver in the National Football League, and his impact on our team has been really, really significant,” Garrett said. “He just has to feel good about that, and he’s got a great challenge this week going up to Washington against the Redskins.”
