Garrett says safety switch aimed at letting McCray focus more on special teams

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said he started Eric Frampton at strong safety against New Orleans, rather than Danny McCray, to allow McCray to focus more on special teams. McCray is one of the team’s top special teams players but was thrust into the starting lineup Oct. 1 because of a season-ending Achilles injury to teammate Barry Church. McCray took only one defensive snap against the Saints. Frampton took 51.

“We just felt like it was best … to let Danny play a little more special teams and get himself back in the role he’s most accustomed to playing,” Garrett said.
