If Jason Garrett had a choice, he would prefer to have his team practice outdoors in the cold today to prepare them for what they will face Sunday. But it isn't possible with the team's outdoor practice fields at Valley Ranch covered in snow and ice from a winter storm Christmas Day.
"We just can't get out on our fields. It's all ice," Garrett said Wednesday. "So we don't have all the necessary equpiment to thaw it out to the point where we're able to practice, so we've got to go to the stadium."
The Cowboys will bus to Cowboys Stadium for the second practice they have moved indoors in their past three full practices. They practiced at the indoor facility at Highland Park High School on Thursday because of high winds.
Garrett said he would have had his team practice outdoors to simulate the temperature expected Sunday -- somewhere around 30 degrees as the high is predicted to be 39 with a low of 28. But the Cowboys lacked equipment to remove the ice from their fields. They hope to practice outdoors Thursday, where the forecast calls for a high of 50 after a morning low of 27.
