NFL PIcks of the Week, Coming down the stretch
Sunday, Dec. 9
St. Louis at Buffalo
The Bills have been solid at home. While the Rams beat the 49ers last week, they are still a work in progress. Bills, 17-13
Dallas at Cincinnati
The Cowboys would have been hard pressed to win this game even before the tragedy on Saturday morning. Now the challenges are just too much on and off the field. Bengals, 28-24
Kansas City at Cleveland
The Chiefs won an emotional game last week. But now they are away from home for first time since their own tragedy. The reality of their already tragic season is too much. Browns, 23-14
Tennessee at Indianapolis
The Colts have won six of seven games and are 5-1 at home. The Titans have won just two road games all season. Colts, 28-14
Chicago at Minnesota
Adrian Peterson is the best back in the league. But he has no quarterback and no hope against a Bears team looking to keep pace with the Packers in the race for NFC North title. Bears, 27-22
Philadelphia at Tampa Bay
The Buccaneers are still in the playoff chase. The Eagles have lost nine straight and are playing for the future. Buccaneers, 25-21
Baltimore at Washington
Robert Griffin III has the Redskins on a roll. He gets a Ravens defense without Ray Lewis and without Terrell Suggs. Redskins, 28-27
Atlanta at Carolina
It’s my opinion that the Falcons aren’t as good as their record, but they do keep on winning. The Panthers keep finding new ways to lose. Falcons, 24-22
N.Y. Jets at Jacksonville
There will be no Tim Tebow sighting in Jacksonville. Just more futility from Mark Sanchez, who somehow still remains the Jets quarterbacks. Jaguars, 18-15
San Diego at Pittsburgh
The season is over for the Chargers and so is the coaching career of Norv Turner. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is back in the lineup, and the Steelers are gearing up for a postseason run. Steelers, 28-21
Miami at San Francisco
The Dolphins will travel across two time zones to get beat down in the Bay Area. The 49ers, still smarting from the loss to the Rams, aren’t losing two straight games. 49ers, 27-10
New Orleans at N.Y. Giants
The Saints can’t protect Drew Brees. That’s not a good look against the Giants pass rush. Look for Eli Manning and the receivers to get back on track against the Saints' shoddy secondary. Giants, 30-25
Detroit at Green Bay
Green Bay has as many or more injuries than any team in the league. But they still have Aaron Rodgers and they keep on winning. Packers, 28-25
Monday Dec. 10
Houston at New England
This is a huge measuring-stick game for the Texans on national television. Houston is the real deal, but they will come up short on the road. Patriots, 32-28
Last week: 9-7
Season: 112-80
