Ware missing as Cowboys start practice on ice-cleared fields at Valley Ranch

Linebacker DeMarcus Ware apparently was going to miss or be limited again in practice on Thursday. He was not on the field during the period open to reporters.

It would mean a second missed practice this week for the Cowboys’ leading sack-producer, who is trying to work his way through elbow and shoulder injuries.

Nose tackle Jay Ratliff appeared ready to miss another practice also. He is still recovering from sports hernia surgery, a process that was expected to take at least until this week. The Cowboys have kept him on the active roster in hope that he could be ready if the team makes the playoffs.

Thursday’s practice was at Valley Ranch, where the fields had been cleared of ice. The team practiced at Cowboys Stadium on Wednesday because of the snow and ice.
