The Dallas Cowboys denied DeCamillis a chance to leave last year to join Dennis Allen’s staff in Oakland as assistant head coach/special teams coach.
DeCamillis has another year left on his contract, but the Cowboys are allowing him to leave this time.
DeCamillis, 47, interviewed for the head coaching job in Chicago that went to Marc Trestman. He was one of 13 known candidates for the job. The Bears lost special teams coach Dave Toub, who left to join the Kansas City Chiefs staff.
DeCamillis is the third coach to leave the Cowboys staff since the end of the season. Running backs Skip Peete and defensive coordinator Rob Ryan were fired. Tight ends coach John Garrett has been asked to look for another job, and new defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin is interviewing for his defensive staff.
