Houston Nutt interviews for offensive position

Former Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt was at Valley Ranch on Thursday to meet with the Cowboys about an offensive position on staff, according to a source.

Running backs coach Skip Peete, who was not retained, was hired by the Bears on Thursday.

Nutt has ties to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones from his 10 seasons at Arkansas. He was 75-48 from 1998-2007 with the Razorbacks, the second-most wins in school history behind Frank Broyles. Nutt was the head coach at Ole Miss from 2008-11, where he was 24-26. He did not coach last season, and he has never coached in the NFL.

Nutt served as an assistant coach to Jimmy Johnson and Lou Holtz early in his career.
