It has taken Rob Ryan a little longer than he predicted to find a new job, but he might be employed again soon. Ryan will interview with the St. Louis Rams on Saturday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The paper said Ryan is scheduled to arrive in St. Louis today.
The Cowboys fired Ryan on Jan. 8 after two seasons. Dallas ranked 19th in total defense, though it played without five starters for much of the year.
There was a report shortly thereafter that Ryan, who was on vacation when he was fired, had accepted the defensive coordinator position with the Rams. But the report was premature: He might soon have a job with the Rams.
St. Louis did not have a defensive coordinator last season after Gregg Williams was suspended for his role in the bounty program in New Orleans. Ryan has ties to Rams head coach Jeff Fisher, having played for Ryan's father in Chicago, and then later serving as Buddy Ryan's defensive coordinator with the Eagles.
The Rams run a 4-3. Ryan mostly has coached the 3-4.
