It’s happened too many times to count. Social media account managers post snarky comments on their work accounts rather than their personal ones.
On Monday morning, the Dallas Cowboys’ official Twitter account seemingly poked fun at professional hockey and baseball with this tweet:
The Dallas Stars account responded:
At least our #9 got the job done..... RT:" @dallascowboys Similarly in the category of nobody-cares…the NHL is back!" twitter.com/DallasStars/st…
— Dallas Stars (@DallasStars) January 8, 2013
That tweet was retweeted more than 3,000 times in less than an hour.
Early Tuesday morning, the Cowboys’ tweeted that it was all a big mistake:
@dallasstars our sincere apologies for the inappropriate tweet posted accidentally to our account. Good luck this season.

A few minutes later: “Apology accepted,” the Stars said.
