Kiffin is asked about Spencer, says he's not supposed to talk about it

New defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin was asked about Anthony Spencer on Thursday when the Cowboys’ new assistant coaches met the media.

But Kiffin, who had been so effusive in his interview session, clamped down on talk about the outside linebacker, who might have been the Cowboys’ best defensive player last season but is no sure thing to return.

“That’s not for me to address,” Kiffin said. “I think somebody already told me that before I got here. I got coached up, too.”

It could be interpreted as a sign that the Cowboys have forced themselves to think about life without Spencer.

Then again, it could be Kiffin’s way of shutting down a line of questioning – and wrapping up an interview.
