After visit to Valley Ranch, TCU WR Josh Boyce would love to make it home

Josh Boyce walked out of Valley Ranch on Tuesday for what he hopes won’t be the last time. After a two-day visit with the Cowboys, the TCU receiver would love to become a Cowboy on draft day.

“It would be great,” Boyce said. “It’s America’s Team. Everybody likes the Cowboys. It would be great if I could stay in Texas and play.”

The Cowboys have 30 visits available for national prospects before their Dallas Day workouts next week with locals. Clemson receiver DeAndre Hopkins was among other players at Valley Ranch on Tuesday with Boyce.

Boyce visited this week since he can’t work out next week. He underwent foot surgery March 5 in McKinney.

Boyce has what is called a “Jones Fracture” – a fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot. He said he will start running in “a couple of weeks,” and expects a full recovery.

The injury should not hurt Boyce’s draft stock. He fully participated at the combine and ran one of the fastest times in the 40-yard dash at 4.38.

He is projected as a mid-round pick.

“It happened at a good time,” Boyce said of the surgery, which came after the combine and could have him ready for his new team’s rookie minicamp. “Everything worked out for me.”

Boyce left school with a year of eligibility remaining after getting his sociology degree. He is the school’s all-time leader in touchdown catches with 22 and was second in receiving yards (2,535) and third in receptions (161).

During his visit to Valley Ranch, Boyce met with Jason Garrett, offensive coordinator Bill Callahan and new receivers coach Derek Dooley. Boyce said he left with a good feeling about the visit.

He also will visit the Patriots and the Steelers.

TCU receiver Skye Dawson, offensive guard/center Blaize Foltz, tight end Corey Fuller and running back Matthew Tucker are expected to visit the Cowboys next week for Dallas Day.
