Cowboys running coach Gary Brown missed OTAs last week for personal reasons, not expected back today

Running backs coach Gary Brown missed the last two days of OTA practices last week and is not expected back today for personal reasons, multiple sources said.

Brown attended last Tuesday's session but missed Wednesday and Thursday after returning to Cleveland to be with an ailing family member.

He has yet to return from Cleveland.

The Cowboys used the other offensive coaches to help fill his duties with the running backs in his absence.

Brown, who was hired in February to replaced the fired Skip Peete, spent the last five seasons as the running backs coach of the Cleveland Browns. His family had remained in Cleveland until school was out.

Peete is now the running backs coach for the Chicago Bears.
