Romo says every quarterback should be surrounded by win-now mentality Cowboys are showing in acquiring players

For Tony Romo, it is no surprise to see the Cowboys adding players left and right in a bid to “win now.”

“I think any good organization has a win-now mentality,” he said. “I think you’re always trying to make each season the best possible season that you can, and this organization does a great job of that.”

Romo, talking with reporters Wednesday at Valley Ranch, said every quarterback should be surrounded by the energy of a win-now mentality.

“Jerry, Jason, the best thing about them they bring the energy every day and show everybody in this entire building how important it is every day you take a step in here,” he said. “That’s a great thing to have. Every quarterback should have that.”

Romo said the signing of five-time Pro Bowl guard Brian Waters is an example.

“I think it’s always nice when you are continuing to acquire talent that can help you, and the organization has done a great job just continually bringing in the people who give us a chance to be a better team and go from there,” he said. “I think Brian has a great track record, and I assume he’s going to come in and play as well as he always has.”

Romo said he and Waters were already getting up to speed.

“You talk to him and go over things. You quiz him,” Romo said. “I did that a little bit before practice today, just going over little things, but he’s a smart guy. He’s been around different systems, and when his chance comes he’ll be ready.”
