Cowboys linebacker Cameron Lawrence will appeal his $21,000 fine from the league. Lawrence's salary is the rookie minimum $405,000.
"I really didn’t expect it," said Lawrence, who can take the fine in installments. "Most of the guys after the game, they’re like, 'You better be crossing your fingers and hope they don’t hit you with a fine.' But they got me, that’s for sure."
Lawrence's blindside hit on Washington's David Amerson didn't draw a penalty, which would have negated Dwayne Harris' 90-yard kickoff return.
"You never like to see anybody go down with a concussion," Lawrence said. "...I’ll definitely try to keep it in the chest area, because I can’t be taking fines like that. Nobody wants to give up money for no reason like that."
Safety Barry Church said he was not fined for his hits on Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III that drew unnecessary roughness penalties.
