Joseph Randle carried 19 times for the Cowboys in a start in place of DeMarco Murray, and believes he can do more.
“I’m able to carry the full load for the full season if they ask me to do that,” Randle said. “Right now, I’m just doing what they ask me to do.”
Randle finished with 65 yards, but that wasn’t what was important for him.
“Protecting the quarterback is always first,” he said. “And then holding on to the ball. I don’t even know how man yards I had.”
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he thinks there’s a “good chance” DeMarco Murray back next week from his sprained knee.
“Murray’s a dominant back out there,” Jones said. “It takes its toll on a defense when he’s out there. I think we’re in great shape at running back.”
He is also optimistic about Lance Dunbar’s return from a hamstring injury, giving the Cowboys three backs with the contributions of rookie Joseph Randle.
“You could have all three of these guys at the same time – I mean, have Dunbar and Murray back and then have Randle play good,” Jones said.
