The Cowboys add Davin Meggett to practice squad to shore up injury depleted running back corps

With running back DeMarco Murray and Lance Dunbar already ruled out of Sunday's game against the Eagles, the Cowboys made a move to shore up the position by signing Davin Meggett to the practice squad.

Joseph Randle and Phillip Tanner are the only healthy running backs left standing on the 53-man roster. Randle will get the bulk of the carries with Tanner handling short-yardage and third-down situations.

The Cowboys could sign Meggett to the roster later in the week to give them some insurance on game day.

Meggett is the son of former NFL star Dave Meggett. He spent time with Houston Texans last year and was cut by the Indianapolis Colts in training camp this past August.
