Cowboys notes: Defense adds its fourth TD of the season

These are notes compiled by Cowboys' PR:

The Dallas Cowboys defense added their fourth touchdown of the season when Nick Hayden recovered a fumble in the end zone. Dallas’s four defensive touchdowns scored thus far are the most in a season since the four scored in 2010.

Dan Bailey converted both of his field goal tries today to give him 77 career field goals and take sole possession of third all-time in team history. He trails Chris Boniol (81) by four for second.

Bailey made three PATs today to give him 103 for his career and take sole possession of eighth in team history. Bailey trails Efren Herrera (106) by three for seventh.

Everette Brown made his Cowboys debut today, and he notched a sack and forced a fumble on the play.

Dez Bryant caught six passes for 64 yards today. He now has 3,576 career receiving yards and passed Lance Rentzel (3,521), Billy Joe DuPree (3,565) and tied Jay Novacek (3,576) for 10th in receiving yards in team history.

Nick Hayden recovered a Christian Ponder fumble in the end zone today for a touchdown. It was Hayden’s first career fumble recovery and first career score.

Tony Romo completed 34-of-51 passes (66.7%) for 337 yards and two touchdowns today.

Romo’s 51 attempts today tied the fourth-most in a game in his career.

Romo’s 34 completions today gave him 2,326 career completions to pass Jeff George (2,298) and Jim Harbaugh (2,305) for 45th in league history.

Romo’s 34 completions also tied the seventh-most in a game in his career.

Romo’s 337 yards today was his 43rd career 300-yard game. Dallas owns a 27-16 (.628) record when Romo reaches the 300-yard mark.

For his career, Romo now has 28,290 passing yards to pass Terry Bradshaw (27,989) and Ron Jaworski (28,190) to crack the top-50 and reach 49th spot in passing yards all-time in NFL history.

Romo’s two touchdown tosses today gave him at least one in each of the previous 22 games and extend his club record for consecutive games with a touchdown pass.

Romo’s two touchdown passes gave him 197 for his career to pass Bobby Layne, Norm Snead, Joe Ferguson and Steve DeBerg (196 each) and tie Ken Anderson for 38th all-time in NFL history.

Romo’s pair of touchdown tosses today gave him 20 for the season. This is his sixth season with 20-or-more touchdown passes, extending his club-high, tying him with seven others for the 15th-most 20-touchdown seasons, and tying him for fifth (second-highest figure) since 2006.

Romo now has 62 career multiple-touchdown games to improve his club-high and allow him to place fifth in the NFL since becoming a starter in 2006:

Orlando Scandrick intercepted a pass today for his second interception of the season. This season is his first with multiple interceptions.

George Selvie added his sixth sack of the season today, extending his single-season career-high. He also forced a fumble on the sack for his first career forced fumble. The fumble was recovered in the end zone by Hayden for a Dallas defensive score.

Terrance Williams finished today’s game with two catches for 33 yards. Through nine games of his rookie season, Williams has 28 catches for 477 yards and four touchdowns. All-time among Dallas Cowboys rookies, Williams receptions are 11th in a season, while his yards and touchdowns are both tied for seventh.

Jason Witten led the team with eight catches for 102 yards and a touchdown. He now has caught at least one pass in 79 straight games and trails only Michael Irvin (117 from 1990-98) for the team record. Witten’s last game without a reception was at the N.Y. Giants (11/2/08).

Witten now has 851 career catches to become the 20th NFL pass catcher to reach 850 career catches. He also passed Rod Smith (849) for 20th in career receptions NFL history.

For the season, Witten has 45 catches – his 10th straight and 10th overall season with at least 40 catches. He is the fourth tight end in league history with 10 overall (Tony Gonzalez - 15, Shannon Sharpe – 11 and Antonio Gates - 10), and he is the third with 10 straight
