Garrett says there are examples of Cowboys defense playing better after bad games

Jason Garrett said the defense has shown already this season that it can bounce back from a bad performance.

“A couple of different times in the year, we’ve had some bad games and games where we didn’t do what we need to do on defense. And we made the corrections, and we played better,” the Cowboys coach said Wednesday. “We simply have to do that again.”

The Cowboys gave up 51 points to Denver and won the next week.

They gave up 31 points and a last-minute touchdown to Detroit and won the next week.

They gave up 49 points and an NFL-record 40 first downs to New Orleans and won the next week.

So they will have to bounce back a fourth time.

“We’ve responded well to these kinds of games, and that’s happened over the course of this season, where teams have had a lot of yards, they’ve scored a lot of points, and we’ve gotten back to work and made adjustments that we think would help our football team, and we’ve played better,” Garrett said. “So we’ve simply got to do that again.”
