For the second consecutive season, defensive end DeMarcus Ware has had a number of injuries. Last year, it was elbow and shoulder injuries. This year he has fought through neck, quadriceps and now back injuries. Ware missed practice Wednesday with his back injury.
Ware has only six sacks this season, including only two in the past 11 games. He had two assists Sunday, according to the coaches' grades, and two quarterback pressures.
"DWare, you can say whatever you want, the guy’s been banged up," defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin said Wednesday. "He’s trying to play hurt, and you’ve got to admire the guy for that. But he wants to play better and we want him to play better."
Cornerback Morris Claiborne (hamstring), receiver Dwayne Harris (hamstring), linebacker Sean Lee (neck), defensive end George Selvie (back), linebacker Ernie Sims (groin) and receiver Terrance Williams (hamstring) also missed Wednesday's practice.
Linebacker Bruce Carter (hamstring), defensive tackle Jason Hatcher (neck) and defensive end Jarius Wynn (chest) were limited.
