This wasn't the most scintillating game until toward the end of the second period. I admit, I'm impressed with the Stars' moxie right now. Nothing is getting to them, especially this type of game which can aggravate anyone.
These are the games that used to really frustrate the Stars, those close games where the opposing goaltender wasn't yielding anything. Their shots used to go from being close up to further away as they went along. Tonight, it was the other way around. They went from the blue line to right in front of one Ilya Bryzgalov; the pressure increased as we advanced.
This is seven in a row, folks. Seven. The confidence is overflowing with these guys, and there's not one player on this team who's not willing to step up and take that shot that could prove to be the difference. Take Steve Ott tonight. Dave Tippett was raving about him afterward. Does he have the confidence to take that shot in the past? Who knows. But he has it now, and the life was back in the Stars and the building.
This has been fun stuff lately. It won't get easier, obviously, but there's nothing like playing with confidence come mid-February.
