I have mixed feelings about the Brad Richards deal, just based solely on getting to know these guys in the locker room. I'll especially miss Mike Smith. He had such a great attitude and sense of humor in that locker room, and I don't doubt that he helped keep Marty Turco loose. Those two had such a great friendship.
But this is a business. So now that it's just about official, what do you all think about the deal? Good? Bad? Indifferent? Remember one thing: Richards has proven he can score in the playoffs, and the Stars could use that.

Based on your newspaper article, I knew Smith would go but didn't know about Jokinen and Halpern. As they say, it's a business. Hate to see any of the guys go, but they will probably benefit from more playing time. The Stars do need a boost from something even though they are playing well. I'm like you with the mixed feelings. After I see Richards play then I can form a better opinion. Nothing against Richards since I'm not familiar with him. What is your take on the team chemistry with Richards? That's after losing these three has passed.

It's a huge trade, I definetely love it.

I'm with you about Smith and the chemistry on this team but the reality is that Smith is too good to be a backup any longer. Hopefully for him Torts will be fired and a new coach will come in.

Tracey, any idea where they will play Richards? I don't like the idea of a three-headed monster at center and would much rather see him playing with Modano.

I miss Smitty already, and I know my brother will miss Jussi. I did watch the lightning's entire run for the cup (rooting for Sydor) and I do like Richards. We'll see how this works. It's kind of shocking.
