While the rest of us just wait for training camp to start, at least six interested NHL teams wait for Mats Sundin to make a decision: Will he play or will he not? And if he comes back, which team will be the lucky beneficiaries of his talent? (Yeah, I know he's 37. He's still pretty good.)
In light of all the hubub around Brett Favre's I'm retired-now-I'm-not saga, I like what Sundin's doing: He's taking his time. He's not rushing headlong either way, and making things a general headache for those around him. So you can bet he'll be 100 percent sure of his decision when he makes it. Obviously it's a tough one. He could come back and be a very rich man (OK, richer than he already is), or he can live a relaxing retired life. And, heck, who wouldn't want to be able to retire at 37?!
So enjoy the rest of your summer, Mr. Sundin. Take all the time you need.
