Sorry, I'm a little late with my first-period recap. My thoughts thus far:
Been pretty impresed with James Neal in the first 20 minutes. He had a good opportunity or two (actually, that line of he, Petersen and Avery has looked good).
Mike Ribeiro is Mike Ribeiro. I am no longer surprised.
Marty Turco had some great stops in a flurry of Avalanche shots. He kick-saved a Cody McCormick shot, then followed that with a sitting stop on Matt Hendricks.
OK, that's it for now... oh, Ryan Smyth scored to put the Avs up 2-1 early in the second period. Looked like a mishandling in front of Marty led to Smyth's grabbing it and flicking it in.
