I'm looking for the dual meaning there, kids. We're nearing opening night, as well as nearing the final roster cuts.
So here's a quick recap of recent events:
The Stars put Sergei Zubov on IR, as he's still on the shelf after his hip surgery on Sept. 18, the day before camp began. It's looking like he'll be out most of October, so the Stars could do the long-term injury deal with him and get a little cap space (I had a little blog entry about that term and its rules during the Colorado game last Wednesday).
Also, James Neal and Mark Fistric were assigned to Oklahoma City. The Stars have no true minor-league team anymore, so it's one more example of players being strewn about the place.
And finally, Ivan Vishnevskiy was assigned to the Peoria Rivermen and Konstantin Pushkarev was releasesd.
We'll wait and see what shakes out tomorrow, when the Stars' roster has to be trimmed to its limit.

Any hint at what is going on with Fistric?
