The Stars needed a first period like this (they need three periods like this, actually). But they had plenty of energy, they looked determined to get the upper hand in this one, and they are taking advantage of Minnesota miscues (almost got another one there at the end).
Steve Ott's impact has already been felt, although I'm curious to see if he still gets that goal. I know they'll be looking at it during this intermission.
Tobias Stephan is doing just fine. I know he slipped and fell behind the net early, but he's not trying to do too much. Just stopping the puck and making quick passes to clear himself of danger. Can't really blame him for the one on which he was beat. Just a saucy slapper.
Brad Richards is looking very good tonight. He may end up with two goals after the replay session, and he had another chance near the end of the period. That's what the Stars need from him all the time.
The Wild are uncharacteristically shaky right now. They're known for their discipline, but the mistakes have been costly. We'll see if the Stars can keep taking advantage of them.. or if they still continue.
