In the midst of traveling, seeing friends and taking in the NYC a bit, I forgot to blog today. My apologies. But it is New York... . I know why Frank Sinatra sang about it!
Anyway, Jere Lehtinen is not on this trip. We talked to him last week about the groin, and he said he was close. He also said it was unrelated to the groin injury he had during the summer, which was a tear. Sounds like it's an overwork issue, but nevertheless, he's not here for these next three games (he didn't last too long in Friday's practice, either, a few minutes and done). And, oh, how the Stars miss his presence. In asking a few players about his absence last week, you heard the same words over and over again: "He's Mr. Fix-It" "He's the glue" The Stars could use some glue right now.
But it's about the players who are here, and they need to find some success on this road trip.
Doug Janik was wearing an eye patch over that left eye today, according to coach Dave Tippett. You look at the replays and realize how lucky he was that he sustained what he did and it wasn't worse than that. But the Stars will take a look at him in the morning (yes, he is on the trip) and see if he can go.
OK, folks, it's time for me to kick this cold once and for all. See you tomorrow morning.
