Toby Petersen should be back in NYC tonight (his wife was supposed to give birth this afternoon), so we'll see where he fits into the lineup the next two games.
The topic of the Sean Avery-Martin Brodeur situation came up, and coach Dave Tippett said he'd seen it done when he was coaching Houston in the AHL. Apparently, an Orlando player did it to Manny Fernandez. That league didn't install a rule for it. Tippett said he doesn't worry about it now since the NHL has dealt with it.
"I wasn't a fan of it then, and I'm still not a fan of it," he said. "You look at people like that, they try to do whatever it takes to win. Sometimes it steps over the line, and that was one that stepped over the line. The league made the rule, so you don't see it anymore. He's a competitive guy. He wants to win."
