Newly-acquired defenseman Andrew Hutchinson went through his first practice today and was paired with Darryl Sydor. He's wearing No. 27. Hutchinson estimated he's worn six different jersey numbers the last four years, but hasn't worn 27 since he was 8 or 9 years old. Stars coach Dave Tippett wouldn't confirm if that defensive pairing will continue or when Hutchinson will see action, but considering the Stars have games on consecutive nights Hutchinson seeing playing time in Canada seems safe.
Doug Janik practiced at forward today. He's insurance up front considering the Stars have only 12 healthy forwards and calling up a player from the minors doesn't seem like an option right now.
Mike Modano and Brad Richards did not practice today. Tippett wanted to give them both some rest before the road trip.
