It's been a long two days, and I'm going to be pretty succinct in what I have to say right now (I should take my time and ramble, since I'm sitting in Calgary's airport at 2 a.m.).
A lot of people still seem to think the Stars are having this reaction over one quote. Come on, folks, you've read the comments from players, from the coach, from the GMs, etc. This was sooooo much more than just about one friggin' quote. To anyone who hasn't seen it yet, check out Jennifer Floyd Engel's column.
This situation with Avery had become like a volcano. The pressure had been building... just needed someething to trigger the eruption. Enter dumb quote here.
So what next? Ship him to the minors? Buy him out? The Stars have certainly done that before. It's going to cost the Stars no matter which way they go. I'm thinking they really don't care.
OK, the mix of coffee and Timbits is doing absolutely nothing. See you back home, folks.

Ms.Myers,
Thanks for all of your hard work. You are sounding as worn out as the rest of the Stars. Sorry.
Since you have access to the players, you might send along a bit of advice to Sean.... keep changing you cell # until you are no longer receiving the only things that get under your skin - nasty texts from your ex's.

Tracey,
o.k.,its "over".Let's all get back to hockey. My only gripe is some of the most outspoken Avery critics on the Stars still have have serious "on ice" issues to deal with, and I did not like what I saw last night with the beginning of the "post- Avery" era. Injuries and Avery should not be used as the sole reasons for massive under-achievement on this team.

I don't see anything evil about sloppy seconds, women have been called worse.
I think it's a matter of opinion and interpretation. But their's a bigger issue here.
What ever happened to free speech? We pride ourselves the be the best country in the world because of our freedoms and yet we quietly behave like communists. We're a country of hypocrites and closet commies.
That includes the NHL and the Stars. Might as well hang a poster of Lenin in their locker room. I will never watch them again.

So can you summarize for us some of the " ...soooooo much more than the one friggin' quote..." ? I don't follow the Stars or hockey, so I'm not up on this guy's antics. But the reporting in the media made it sound like his suspension was in response to the "sloppy seconds" comment, which frankly is pretty damned tame. What were the other incidents?

I hope he'll be back, I love bad guys in hockey. I don't want a team that will look like european hockey.
