Funny thing about these Stars... on off nights you can't find a darn thing to write about, and on a night like this they give you boatloads of fodder.
First, we have to talk about tough guy Krys Barch. He lost eight teeth from Chris Chelios' stick. Eight, kids. Three on top, five on the bottom. He opened his mouth in the locker room and there it was. Or there they weren't, I should say. His teeth were basically shattered, there bottom of them still in his mouth but the tops shaved off. Now he lost that many teeth WITH a mouth guard. Could you imagine if he wasn't wearing that thing? Aaron Downey was looking to pick a fight with him immediately upon Barch's return, and Barch said he was ready to go. But the officials thought better of it.
Now about those no-no goals for Detroit. Actually it was just one disallowed, the first never even crossed the line. The Wings were upset, and probably deservedly so. But I was stunned at their lack of giddy-up at the start of the third. There they were, pushing their game at the Stars, with 1:05 remaining on a power play, and the Stars just nullified any energy they could've developed. Great third period defense. Four shots from the Wings.
Good for Chris Conner on his goal... the Livonia native was so close on a couple chances against Atlanta, and he was smart on this one tonight: Don't think about it, just shoot. Great pass from Mike Modano on that, too, off the faceoff. He probably should've gotten a star this evening.
Anyway, kids, we're catching early flights tomorrow so I'll see you in Columbus.

Hey Tracey,
Conner is from Westland, Modano's from Livonia.
