MILITARY MEMBERS FACE OFF IN ANNUAL HOCKEY EVENT
Monetary donations to be offered to military related charity following game
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (MAY 27)-The second annual Armed Forces Memorial Day Hockey Classic is scheduled for this Memorial Day at the NYTEX Sports Center in North Richland Hills.
This year, the game will begin with a special ceremonial faceoff featuring Navy Captain "T.D." Smyers, Base Commander and Air Force Colonel Richard Scobee, 301st Fighter Wing Commander, both from Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint during pre-game.
Pregame for the Memorial Day event begins at 6 p.m. and the puck drops at 6:15 p.m. Admission is free and families are welcome.
Each year the area hockey-playing military members, active and retired, gather to play this game with the Army/Air Force facing the Navy/Marines/Coast Guard. Several active members of each branch will be playing in the game.
During the past two seasons, generous people have made donations at the game and 100% of donations are given to a military-related charity. This year's donations will go to the Honor Flight Network of Dallas, which flies World War II and terminally ill veterans to view memorials established in their honor in Washington, D.C.
