Here's his quote:
``Our guys have loved this guy from the start and we just said if he was available at No. 11, we couldn't let him go,'' said Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk, who trusted his scouts with the selection. ``We viewed this that after Taylor Hall and Tyler Seguin (the first two picks), Jack Campbell had the next best chance to be a franchise player.''
Nieuwendyk added that he would like the Stars' system to get back to where it was when the Stars had several great goalies competing against each other.
``There was a time when we had Eddie Belfour and we had players like Martty Turco, Roman Turek and Manny Fernandez pushing him and pushing each other. That competition, I think, was great for Eddie and great for everyone else. Then, you look back at how Mike Smith and Dan Ellis pushed each other. That's what you need in an organization. It's still the most important position in hockey, and I think we're in good shape here now.''
