Modano will take time to make decision

Mike Modano texted today and confirmed pretty much everything in Helene St. James story in the Detroit Free Press this morning.

He is not skating right now and is working off-ice. He plans to resume skating on Aug. 5 (it's all part of his annual off-season workout routine).

He does not plan to make a decision until he starts skating again.

The Red Wings have offered a one-year contract at $1.25 million.

He still is talking to Minnesota and San Jose but has not set up any meetings (or at least would not reveal the meetings).

The Red Wings seem to be fine with that schedule.
