Andrew Raycroft will get his first start in a Dallas Stars uniform tonight against the Buffalo Sabres.
We gave coach Marc Crawford every chance to say yesterday that Raycroft would start, but he indicated he would likely start Kari Lehtonen. Today, however, he said Raycroft is the man in net.
Raycroft played 15:14 in a relief role against Los Angeles Thursday and stopped all eight shots he faced.
He was 9-5-1 as the backup goalie in Vancouver last year with a 2.42 GAA. He is 7-9-2 in his career against the Sabres with a 3.04 GAA. He was 0-1-1 in preseason with a 4.29 GAA.
Krys Barch and Jeff Woywitka are your healthy scratches for the Stars.
Buffalo played in Atlanta Friday night and did not skate this morning, so we're only guessing on what the Sabres might do. But the general feeling this morning was that Patrick Lalime would start in goal and that captain Craig Rivet would return from a healthy scratch to be back in the lineup.
