The Stars will do some juggling tonight.
In addition to the return of Jamie Benn after missing three games with concussion-like symptoms, coach Marc Crawford has decided to play defenseman Jeff Woywitka in his first game of the year and also sub in Krys Barch for Brian Sutherby.
Lines will look like this:
``Woywitka will draw in for the first time,'' Crawford said. ``We wanted to get him into a game. He's really practiced hard and been a good citizen, so you want to reward people. We're not mad at anybody, it's just a case of recognizing how hard he has been working.''
The question that could be asked is whether Fistric is the right player to take out. Fistric is the low man among defensemen in average time on ice per game at 15:15, but it certainly would be worth the discussion to see if maybe Trevor Daley, Nicklas Grossman, Karlis Skrastins or Matt Niskanen was more deserving of a healthy scratch. Daley had a bad game Monday, but he is their top penalty killing guy. Niskanen is pretty much the first option for a defenseman on the power play right now, so he doesn't seem to be an option, either. Still, Fistric doesn't seem like a guy who needs a game off.
Woywitka last season played in 36 games, had three assists and was minus-6. He averaged 14:06 in time on ice per game. Barch has played in three games this season and has averaged 6:40 in time on ice. He has no shots, one penalty and is minus-1.
Anyway, discuss the strategy and what it might mean tonight against the Panthers.
