The Stars scratches Matt Niskanen and Krys Barch.
The Canucks scratched Mason Raymond and Aaron Rome.
Dallas actually controlled large portions of the first period, and the line of James Neal-Brad Richards-Loui Eriksson was excellent at cycling (often heads up against the Sedin line), but Vancouver found a way to
take a 2-0 lead.
The Canucks got the only power play of the period, and Henrik and Daniel Sedin took advantage. Henrik mis-hit a pass that trickled into the slot, but it found Damiel perfectly open for a slam dunk. It was almost Matrix-like.
It looked the Sedins slowed the entire game down so that they could do what they want.
That made it 1-0 at the 17:11 mark.
Then, Raffe Torres, who had a solid first period, broke between Karlis Skrastins and Jeff Woywitka as the Stars were trying to make a defensive change. Torres manipulated the puck and flipped a shot past Kari Lehtonen
at the 17:58 mark for the 2-0 lead.
