The Stars had an eventful morning skate as they had a great crowd of Stars Kids and their families, and they also learned that not only will AHL call-up Aaron Gagnon play tonight against Minnesota, but that defenseman Philip Larsen might, as well.
Krys Barch (foot/ankle) has been placed on IR and Toby Petersen is nursing a sore hand, so Gagnon will come into the lineup and play on a wing, coach Marc Crawford said.
In addition, Trevor Daley could have some sort of nagging injury (he left the practice ice early), so Larsen was been called up from the Texas Stars (AHL) as a precaution.
Mark Fistric (groin) skated, but is not yet ready to play.
With Barch going to IR (he can't play until next Friday at the earliest), this could be a great chance for Gagnon to possibly stick around for a little bit and maybe get the look-see that he earned in training camp (but didn't get because of the full roster).
``I've talked to Aaron and I told him that you've been here a few times now, and you've got to embrace every opportunity that you get,'' Crawford said. ``He's that type of person, he's going to embrace every opportunity he gets to the fullest. He had a great pre-season for us and now he needs to have that translate into playing well with the big club in a regular season game.''
Gagnon has five goals and four assists for nine points in 20 games with Texas this season. He is minus-4.
Larsen has nine assists in 18 games.
