With the Stars about to name Glen Gulutzan the new head coach, let's take a look at some of the coaches who have jumped from the AHL to the NHL: MIKE BABCOCKCareer record as NHL head coach: Regular Season: 373-188-95 (.641) Playoffs: 70-42-0 (.625)Notable Accomplishments: · Prior joining Anaheim Mighty Ducks on May 22, 2002, guided the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Cincinnati Mighty Ducks to two consecutive playoff berths and a 74-59-27 record in both seasons as head coach.· Compiled a 40-27-15 record (.579) in first season as head coach of Anaheim Mighty Ducks, and led his club to its first ever Stanley Cup appearance in 2003. · Has made two appearances in the Stanley Cup Finals since joining the Detroit Red Wings during 2005-06 season, including winning the Cup in 2008.· Teams he has coached have earned a playoff berth in seven of the last eight seasons in the NHL, including six consecutive appearances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
