Five for Fighting

How many more can they lose?

Hey, folks, it's Tracey from home. And by that title, I mean Stars players.

Mark Parrish took that nasty hit at center ice (looked pretty clean, but painful nonetheless), Krys Barch is in the box for fighting and Brian Sutherby is out for a while with that misconduct and fighting. Fabian Brunnstrom is out after his upper-body injury on Sunday, and Jere Lehtinen is also still sidelined.

The Stars are down to slim pickings right now, and down 3-0. Can the Stars stay mentally strong enough to make any noise in this one?

Poor Mark Parrish

Are the Anaheim Ducks still bitter at Mark Parrish for his hat trick against them back in November? The guy's been beaten up today.

Not that I'm telling the Ducks where to refocus their angst, but they might want to see who's been hurting them today.

Now it's tied

And this one actually was Mark Parrish's goal... Krys Barch did the grunt work on this one, drawing a lot of action his way and then passing it to a wide-open Parrish, who flicked it past a way-out-of-position Chris Osgood.

Got dicey for a second at the other end on Modano's turnover, but Turco stopped Marian Hossa's shot. Then Hossa takes the tripping call on Mo, and it's power play No. 3. The Stars really need to do something on these. Certainly more than they have done.

We thought it was Nicklas Grossman's first regular-season goal, but it instead ends up being Mark Parrish's goal.

And just like that it's 3-1 Detroit on a Marian Hossa power-play goal. Yikes.

Mark Parrish knocks home a bouncing rebound and then looks like the most relieved guy on the ice. Brad Richards had the original shot, and Scott Clemmensen came out pretty far to stop it. But he didn't get it clean, and the puck bounced around a bit before Parrish lifted it in for the power-play goal. That comes at 9:58, from Richards and Stephane Robidas.

It's been a frustrating month or so for Parrish, so good for him on that one.

Stars are on another power play right now in a game that's gotten very snippy. Good times.

Stars back up

Mark Parrish had a sweet little deflection of a Sergei Zubov shot, and the Stars are back up 2-1 at the 8:13 mark of the second period.

By the way, how was that NOT a tripping call on the Brenden Morrow deal a few minutes before? I'm sure the Stars will take the makeup call, but wow.

Parrish once again

I think we'll be talking about his hat trick in a few minutes, but for now we're certain he has two.

Scott Niedermayer has the rare gaffe, as he falls down in his own zone trying to bring the puck up ice. And there was Parrish, to pick up the turnover and nail the wrister for a 4-1 Stars lead at the 5:52 mark of the second period.

That goal prompted a goalie change, as Jonas Hiller replaced Giguere.

Parrish gets his first

Well, with the Stars, anyway. But this was all Sean Avery's work on this shift... he kept control of the puck behind the net and tried a few passes before sending a slick backhander to Parrish, who came through the slot to score the power-play goal that has the Stars up 2-0 midway through the first.

I believe Mike Modano got the second assist on that one.
