If Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Gerald Laird didn't have enough to worry about this season, the Rangers have invited another catcher to spring training. The Rangers signed Patrick Arlis and gave him an invite to camp. If you can't put a finger on where you've heard about Arlis, you're not alone. Texas signed him away from the Kansas City T-Bones of the independent Northern League. Arlis hit .262 for the T-Bones, who may have been named for George Costanza's favorite nickname. Arlis was drafted by Florida in the 11th round in 2002 and made it as high as Triple A before being released earlier this year. His best minor-league seasn came in 2005, when he hit six homer and drove in 35 playing in Class A ball.
