Rangers add Fukumori to roster

The Rangers have placed right-handed pitcher Kazuo Fukumori on their 40-man roster. To make room,  infielder Chris Shelton was designated for assignment.

Fukumori, 31, signed a two-year contract through 2009 with a club option for 2010.

Shelton, 27, was acquired from Detroit in a December trade for outfielder Freddy Guzman. The Rangers have 10 days to trade, release or outright Shelton to the Minor Leagues.
