Reliever Warner Madrigal, who looked good in the seventh, isn't having the same kind of success in the eighth. A walk and a single set teh stage for Brandon Wood, who turned a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 lead with a homer deep to left.
The Rangers have allowed just two hits through seven innings but Texas pitchers have walked five. Righty Warner Madrigal, whom Texas plucked from the Angels, just worked out of a first and second jam with one out. Madrigal struck out both batters he faced and now it's 2-0 going into the bottom of the seventh.
Pardon the Brady Bunch reference but the Rangers have made wholesale changes to open the fourth on a scoreless game. The only starter now in the game is catcher Gerald Laird. C.J. Wilson is on the mound after Robinson Tejeda pitched a scorless third, giving up a hit and committing a balk.
Newly appointed leadoff man Ian Kinsler is now 2 for 2. Kinsler, who had two hits Thursday, singled in his first at bat Friday and then doubled off Darren Oliver in the bottom of the third. Jason Ellison followed that with an infield single and the Rangers have something cooking in a scoreless game.
Left-hander Matt Harrison, who looked good in an intrasquad game Monday, was sharp again in his two innings Friday against the Angels. Harrison gave up a double and a walk but also fielded his position well, starting a double play to end the second inning. Harrison struck out one and the game is tied at 0 going into the bottom of the second.
