Galarraga traded to Tigers

Right-hander Armando Galarraga, who was designated for assignment last month, was traded to the Tigers for minor-league first baseman Michael Hernandez. The Rangers have some familiarity with Hernandez, who showed nice power last season at Class A Lakeland and Double-A Erie with 24 homers and 27 doubles. He has spent parts of the past two seasons playing for new third-base coach Matt Walbeck, who managed Erie in 2007 and West Michigan in 2006.
