Rangers announce trade

The Rangers have acquired right-hander Dustin Nippert from the Diamondbacks for minor-league righty Jose Marte. The move was announced at 8 p.m.

Nippert could figure his way into the Rangers' bullpen on Opening Day after making 36 relief appearances last season. He held lefties to a .238 average. For his career, Nippert is 2-3 with a 6.43 ERA over parts of three seasons.

Marte pitched at Bakersfield and Clinton last season, going 4-4 with a 5.43 ERA as a reliever.  Marte, 24, was an outfielder for the Cubs before playing for the Rangers organization.
