The Rangers swapped John Danks for Brandon McCarthy before the 2007 season, and both were in action Saturday.
Danks was the White Sox's starting pitcher against the Rangers, and he had an easy first inning against All-Stars Ian Kinsler (strikeout), Michael Young (1-3 groundout) and Josh Hamilton (strikeout). Danks entered with a 6-4 record and a 2.52 ERA, the lowest of any pitcher not going to the All-Star Game.
McCarthy pitched Saturday for the Rangers, in the Arizona Rookie League. He pitched two efficient, pain-free innings as he rehabs from a forearm injury that has kept him out since March. He might be ready to pitch in a major-league game in mid-August.
